As I was researching this book, both of my friends often questioned my interest in Enterprise Resource Planning. "Cam, what makes you think you’re qualified to write a book about esoteric business and technology applications when you've never sat down in front of a computer to do anything other than check your account balances?"

And my answer to them was always very simple and appropriate. "My dear two friends," I would say, "I know a good story." Since all literary works follow the same basic pattern – character development, conflict, more conflict, hopeless despair, self-realization, rededication montage, final confrontation, victorious speech, denouement – I decided I could write the definitive text on any subject. Gardening, TV/VCR repair, C++. It’s all the same when you have the gift of storytelling. So when the Bulkly family came to me with the opportunity to capture the story of one company’s struggle to survive, set against the backdrop of 21st Century business innovation, how could I refuse?

So was I qualified, dear friends? Well, they’re making my book into a musical, and probably a Peter Jackson film in the near future. So yes, I think I’m qualified.
